One of the Band’s main goals is to deliver performances that reflect the effort & commitment of all our players, supporters and families.
This day, we did ourselves proud!
As we went on stage I heard so many talking about the time we’ve spent working on this piece and the hours of preparation to come to Swansea and show what Tredegar Band are capable of. Then, as we finished, took our bows and exited the stage I think we all believed we had done an excellent job of it. There were clips and bits that we all new about, but we felt that the musicality of our rendition would see us through and keep those listening focused on the story to be told through a piece like Festival Music.
The Band has to thank our Musical Director, Ian Porthouse, for the guidance and self-belief he has given us over the past months, never once doubting that we had a winning performance to give.
Praise must also go to all our principal players and soloist for a superb job done throughout our rendition. However, we must single out our Principal Cornet player, Dewi Griffiths, who fully deserve the Championship Section’s Instrumentalist Prize of the Day - Dewi, we’re proud of you.
Our final congratulations must also go to all the other bands that attended this contest, making the day varied, interesting and all producing a very good job of a tricky test-piece.
