Tredegar Town Band

News

We have said before about what the band tries to achieve with each performance and anyone who listened to the Band would agree, we did ourselves justice.

Firstly we’d like to say thanks for all the supportive comments (before and after the results) from members of other bands, supporters & family of the Band and also those people who just happened to be sat in on our performance.  It goes a long way towards justifying why we commit so much of our lives to something we all love and enjoy.

On that note, we would like to recognize the effort and commitment of the guys and gals in BTM who will no doubt have a great time at the Open representing Wales.

Being just one spot of a place to the Open was frustrating for all involved, but after hearing our performance, having the feedback from various well respected members of the brass band community and a rallying talk from our MD Ian Porthouse, we can be happy that we have done our selves proud with what has been quoted as one of “the best performances the band has ever produced”.

The Band are not dwelling on this recent disappointment , but instead looking forward to both the Tredegar Contest (17th May) and the Cambridge Masters the following weekend (25th May).

We have already given an excellent performance of Vienna Nights to rapturous applause at Blackpool, which you can come and hear in Tredegar.  Then join us in Cambridge to hear a very different piece, but just as wonderfully performed, Malcolm Arnold Variations.

Again, thanks to the Band, our families & supporters and to Ian.
