Comments:
Quasi Presto rather untidy start but it settles—it is so important to have a good start.
Mozart’s theme nicely played—little problems with intonation but on the while effective.
[F] Good sound, basses rather heavy but it moves nicely into Var. 3 all well played through this section - intonation still needs care.
[G] Well done soprano, horn & flugel—all very effective. Var. 5 good trombones and it moves well into Var. 6 well played. Var. 7 good light sounds to this music. [L] I like this. Var. 8 well done EEb Bass, good top C.
Presto a real PPP ! [N] I like this! Just the right feel into Scena but then problems with intonation. [Q] good soloists, solo cornet & euph both do well.
Notturno nice feel to this through [T] all very musical to [U].
Finale good tempo and style but resist the temptation to play as loud as possible keep a little in reserve.
A good performance on the whole—soloists do well and the conductor knows what the piece is about - well done everyone. |
