Find out more about
The musical origins of Tredegar Town Band can be traced back to 1849 when a local brass band from the Welsh Valley town was reported to have led a procession to celebrate the opening of a new mill for the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company.
A former Principal Cornet player of Black Dyke Band and described as one of the finest Cornet players of his generation, Ian Porthouse, is one of the most respected and successful conductors in the brass band world today.
Tredegar will provide the musical climax of a celebratory day of brass band features on BBC Radio Wales on the 18th December, when the second half of their concert at the Dora Stoutzker Hall at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama will be broadcast live on the national radio station.
Tredegar’s growing partnership with Bandmaster Limited was given a high profile showcase in Birmingham last Friday evening, when the band was presented with a unique set of bespoke Wallace Collection cornet mutes in striking band colours.
