The Band
The musical origins of Tredegar Town Band can be traced back to 1849 when a local brass band from the Welsh Valley town was reported to have led a procession to celebrate the opening of a new mill for the Tredegar Iron and Coal Company.
The Musical Director
A former Principal Cornet player of Black Dyke Band and described as one of the finest Cornet players of his generation, Ian Porthouse, is one of the most respected and successful conductors in the brass band world today.
Our Next Performance
Tredegar will take to the contest stage at the All England International Masters Contest on Sunday 26th May at the Lighthouse Theatre, Kettering where the band will also be performing in concert at the event’s Evening Gala Concert.
Tredegar’s growing partnership
Tredegar’s growing partnership with Bandmaster Limited was given a high profile showcase in Birmingham last Friday evening, when the band was presented with a unique set of bespoke Wallace Collection cornet mutes in striking band colours.
